The 91st Magic: The Gathering expansion Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty releases in February.

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty from Magic: The Gathering will contain 302 regular cards (and 10 Ukiyo-e basic lands) as well as randomly inserted premiums of all cards.

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty

Releasing on 18 February this year, it’s being described as MTG’s first science fiction plane, with half of the set focused on the new mechanised world of modern Kamigawa and the other half featuring the more traditional Kamigawa in the earlier blocks.

New and returning mechanics abound, with Neon Dynasty set in the current era on Kamigawa. The original Kamigawa block took place in 3326 AR, and so Neon Dynasty is over 1200 years post.

The theme and mechanics center around legendary creatures and ninjas.

Returning mechanics include Ninjutsu, which allows players to use a Ninja creature card in play, attacking while returning another attacking, unblocked creature.

Channel also returns, providing an activated ability allowing the player to discard for a temporary effect.

Cyber ninja, planeswalker Kaito is new to the set. The showcase cards are in “Ninja frame”, while the “soft glow” showcase cards are TBA. Look for Neon Ink treatment on just four different versions like Hidetsugu and Devouring Chaos.

MTG Neon Dynasty will be sold in 16-card Draft Boosters as standard with one card as a marketing card. The release will also be available in Theme Boosters, Collector Boosters, Set Boosters, a Neon Dynasty Bundle and two Commander decks.

Artwork from Japanese artist Kaito Shizuki will be featured on the Draft Boosters, while the Wanderer is the artist for the Set Boosters feature art.
