At times like these, it can be hard to know what to say or do. In the wake of the Bondi tragedy, we wanted to find a practical way to help and use our platform to support a meaningful cause.
With the generous support of Topps and the incredible backing of the Cherry community, we were able to raise $5,000 for Ahmed al-Ahmed through a special Cherry live break carried out in late December.
Topps donated product for the break, giving us the opportunity to turn a hobby event into something that could make a real difference. From there, collectors in our community got behind the initiative by purchasing spots and helping us raise funds for the cause.
Thanks to that support, we were able to donate the full $5,000 to Ahmed al-Ahmed’s GoFundMe.
For us, this was a reminder that the hobby is about more than just cards. At its best, it brings people together, creates moments of connection, and gives people a way to rally behind something bigger than themselves.
We are very grateful to Topps for helping make this possible through their donation, and we are equally grateful to every collector who bought into the break and supported the fundraiser. This donation was only possible because of a community that was willing to come together and contribute.
There are so many moments in this hobby that are built around excitement, collecting and chasing great cards, but it was especially meaningful to see that same energy directed towards helping someone in a difficult moment.
